The President of Oluyole Social Elite, Segun Obe has been recalled as the Secretary General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) by the Constituent Club which he represents in the Assembly.
A letter dated 3rd April 2023 signed by the chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT), Elite Kola Onaolapo, the BOT Secretary, Elite Kola Adelakun and the Vice President of Oluyole Social Elite, Elite Dauda Adediran was addressed to the president General of the Central Council of the Ibadan Indigenes.
According to the letter, the decision to recall the said Elite was taken by a majority of votes during the Club’s Monthly meeting held on the 2nd of April, 2023 and attended by 38 members.
The motion which was moved by Elite Idowu Olaniyan and seconded by Elite Baale Wasiu Aare had 25 members voted for the motion, 1 member voted against and 8 members abstained.
The letter titled “RECALL OF OF ELITE SEGUN OBE AS SECRETARY- GENERAL OF CENTRAL COUNCIL of IBADAN INDIGENES PURSUANT TO SECTION 8.5(II) OF THE CCII CONSTITUTION 2016″ reads, ” This is to inform the President General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigene, the executive council as well as the General Assembly that our Club, Oluyole Social Elite, hereby recalls Elite Segun Obe who the Club sponsored to become the Secretary General of the council during the lady General Election.”
” The decision to recall the said Elite Segun Obe by a majority vote at our Monthly Club’s meeting held on the 2nd day of April, 2023.”
“The Club hereby directs that the said Elite Segun Obe should hand over all Council properties that may be in his possession to the appropriate authority.”
“Take notice that this recall is in accordance with section 8.5(ii) of the constitution of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes 2016.”
The recall of Elite Segun Obe follows some earlier motions taken after an extensive deliberation of the general meeting which includes;
I. That the club maintained the earlier decision that the post of President General should be contested for with Elite Barrister Niyi Ajewole as the candidate cleared by the Electoral committee.
II. That Elite Segun Obe should tender his resignation as CCII Secretary General with immediate effect.
III. The resignation must be in writing effective 2nd April 2023.
IV. Failure which the house can go ahead and recall him from the current CCII executive.
The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes is an umbrella body of over 200 socio-cultural clubs of Ibadan both at home and in the diaspora.
According to section 8.5(ii) of the CCII constitution 2016, “an executive ceases to be a member if recalled by the Constituent Club which he represents in the assembly.
