As the election for new executive of the Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), draws closer, a candidate for the post of the President General, Barr. Niyi Ajewole met with Presidents, secretaries and a stakeholder of all the affiliated clubs of the association to present his agenda ahead of the April 14, 2023 polls.
The event, an interactive session held at De Aces Events Hall, Yemetu Ibadan on Wednesday was withnessed by two of the members of the Olubadan traditional Council, High Chief Eddy Oyewole (Osi-Olubadan) and Oloye Lekan Alabi, (Maye Olubadan of Ibadanland).
Speaking at the event, the candidate for the post of President General and also a member of the Oluyole Social Elite said the 2023 CCII election presented another opportunity for Ibadan, which, he said, stands at the threshold between indifference and greatness.
Barrister Ajewole who was once an EX-CCII legal adviser, said the cardinal programmes of his plans would not be limited to the sole domain of one sector and therefore rolled out a six-point agenda to further bring economic prosperity and good governance to the people of the Ibadan.
The six-point agenda is as follow:
1. City-wide action on youth engagement and empowerment in Ibadanland.
2. Beffiting palace complex for the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
3. Empowering our Mogajis and Baales to play active roles on sustaining peace and growth in Ibadanland.
4. Engagement prominent Ibadan Indigenes in investment and industrialization of Ibadanland.
5. Protecting the stool, eminence and integrity of the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
6. Partnering with CCII affiliate clubs on all issues that affects Ibadanland and affiliate clubs
CCII is an umbrella body for social and Cultural Ibadan indigenes groups, and they are well known over the years for their various activities towards the growth and development of Ibadanland as well as sons and daughters of the soil at home and abroad.
In his goodwill message, Maye Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oloye Lekan Alabi who spoke on behalf of the Osi Olubadan, High Cheif Eddy Oyewole explained that the candidature of Ajewole received the support of all the stakeholders because of the firm belief and strong conviction that he would serve diligently.
Oloye Alabi described Barr. Ajewole as somebody who had sold himself to the services of Ibadanland since his youthful days.
it was also disclosed that “he enjoys the confidence of the people because of his respect for traditional institution and the holders of the traditional positions. We are convinced that he would give us the right kind of leadership the Ibadan people deserves in the apex Ibadan socio-cultural organizations”.
Meanwhile, the Vice President of the Ibadan Mother’s Peace and Progress (IMP), Alhaja Simat Adeleke Larodo while concluding the Goodwill messages said, ” great leaders surrounds themselves with esteemed advisers and I can speak for a fact that Barr, Ajewole who has been a lawyer to my family particularly is a good listener, and we have all contributed to his manifestos which we believe he would executive them if he wins the election”
“Ajewole is man of deep compassion and selfless generosity; a man who has been tested and trusted; a true, a financial strategist; a visionary beyond illusion and I wish him best of luck.”
Also Speaking, A former Minister of Sports and Special Duties, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja recognised Ajewole to be a candidate with proven personal capacity, who also has good leadership traits, and as such, is the person Ibadan needs at a point like this.
The event tagged “CCII Team Rescue and Restoration 2023” also had in attendance numbers of candidates jostling for the executive position of the Apex socio- cultural group in Ibadan.
