The crusade train of the gubernatorial seeker of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, was reportedly attacked by goons said to be armed with dangerous ammunition.
The incident was said to have happened when the convoy reached the Ikoga Junction area of Badagry Local Government.
This was bared in a statement made available by the Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary, Mr. Hakeem Amode.
He added that several members of the party and press sustained injuries in the attack.
The statement read, “ The crusade train of the campaigners of the Peoples Democratic Party was attacked moment while returning from a visit to members of the party at the Ikoga Junction area of Badagry Local Government
“ The attack led to injuries of several members of Jandor’s cortege and intelligencers. As of the time of this press statement, one of the news journalists is in critical condition in an undisclosed sanitarium while those injured are been treated.
“ The goons that attack the crusade train were crying APC while shooting ordnance and using dangerous ammunitions”
“ You’ll recall that our party raised concern over the trouble to use APC- patronized goons to attack the crusade programs of our Gubernatorial seeker Dr. Abdul- Azeez Olajide Adediran- Jandor lately and we’d like to state categorically that this won’t discourage the determination of our seeker to crusade for the coming election and win the election come March 29, 2023.
“ We’d like to call on the Commissioner of Police of Lagos state and the Area Commander of Police in the Badagry division to do everything possible to grope out those behind the attack and necessary correctional conduct to avert similar circumstances in the future and to inseminate confidence in our members that they will be defended during this crusade period.
“ We’d like to also explosively advise those that are hell-bent on causing trouble or planning to disrupt the crusade that we’d not fold our arms and watch as we will repel all forms of intimidation. ”
Still, in his response, the Secretary of the APC, Lagos State chapter, Mr. Seye Oladejo said that the PDP has resorted to propaganda to evoke sympathy from the public.
He said “ The opposition party before now had further believable and accomplished campaigners who flew their flags during choices and ran a good race. It’s good of note that neither were they so hopeless nor unnecessarily toast up the polity with dispensable falsehoods.
“ One can not but wonder what led to the descent to the smallest ocean. Nigerians know too well that this is the season of endless comedy of the absurd coming from the troop of professionals.
“ They’re advised to concentrate on issues- grounded juggernauts that will make life more meaningful for all Lagosians. still, we understand that it can be inviting, frustrating, and depressing to dispute against a largely successful contestant who has come to the mark for good governance. ”
