UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE DRAW: Arsenal to gets fair paring while Manchester United will battle it out with familiar foes.

English premier league side Arsenal and Manchester United’s group stage opponents in this season’s Europa League have been unveiled. In Friday’s draw Arsenal who narrowly missed out on CL football last season were drawn in Group A alongside Eridivise giant PSV, Swiss super league side FC Zurich and Croatian side Bodo/Glimt. The gunners will be buoyed by the arrival of new players in their rank with the acquisition of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester city and Fabio Vieria from Porto.

For Manchester, they have been pitted in Group E and will do battle alongside la liga santander side Real Sociedad, Moldovan National division side Sheriff and Cyprus based side Omonoia Nicosia. New coach Erik Ten hang will be hoping to make a mark in his first season in European competitions with Manchester United with the arrivals of Casemiro from Real Madrid and Lisandro Martinez from Ajax, and Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.

Last season’s champions of the newly formed Europa Conference, AS Roma steered by Jose mourinho are in Group C with Ludogorets, Real Betis and HJK. The Romans will be looking to go one better from their European conference league win last season by being champions come May 2023 at the Budapest Puskas Arena.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles forward Moses Simon’s Nantes will feature in Group G alongside Olympiacos, Freiburg and Qarabag. And Raphael Onyedika’s Midtjylland will take on Lazio, Feyenoord and Sturm Graz in Group F.

The 2022–23 UEFA Europa League is the 52nd season of Europe’s secondary club football tournament organised by UEFA. It is the 14th season since it was renamed from the UEFA Cup to the UEFA Europa League.

The final for this season will be played at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary. Budapest was originally scheduled to host the final match for the 2021–22 UEFA Europa League, but several hosts were shifted because of the delay and ultimate relocation of the 2020 final due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The winners of the tournament will automatically qualify for the 2023–24 UEFA Champions League group stage, and also earn the right to play against the winners of the 2022–23 UEFA Champions League in the 2023 UEFA Super Cup.
